Add Script

You can add a Script to your Project via the controls in the Sidebar, the placeholder action in the main content area, or the Add Script control in the Contextual Toolbar. Once the Add Scripts panel is presented, you can add a number of script files in any of our Supported Formats, reviewing each one before adding to your Project.

Uploading Files

You can upload a script file by dragging it into the drop-zone in the centre of the screen, or by clicking anywhere in the drop-zone to browse for files. Multiple files can be dropped at once, or selected from the Choose File dialog, where holding the Shift key down typically allows you to select a list of files.

Once added, each file is processed and validated with a progress bar for each one. When ready, each file will show a green checkmark alongside its progress bar. Once all files are ready, the "Add Scripts" button becomes available and you can proceed.

Pressing "Cancel" at any time will discard all files and no scripts will be added to your project. If you make an error, simply Cancel and re-add the files you do want.

You can view our currently supported files, recommendations and requirements on the Supported Files page.

Script Import

Once your script files have been accepted, you’ll transition to the Script Import panel, allowing you to verify and edit content before adding it to your project. Your current position in the workflow and the original filename appear under the title. You can "Skip" any files you no longer require, or do not appear as expected. Press "Next" to proceed through each file, and finally "Finish" when you reach the last one.

As CSV files are already structured, and support metadata, you’ll see a panel just confirming the detected content. Supported locales will have already been validated before accepting. If you need to make a change, skip the file, make an offline change and re-upload.

Editor

All other files are presented in a live script editor. Each detected phrase of content will appear on a numbered line. Simply click in to the space and begin making changes as needed; further segmenting content, removing non-content markup or editing the content itself. You will also need to tell Align which locale to use for the content by clicking the dropdown in the top-right. Your selected locale will be retained as you progress, so be sure to check it for each file.

Name

Scripts are named after the uploaded filename by default but you can change the name during upload, and at any time after from the Sidebar. If you hover over the file name above the content area, an edit icon appears. Click again and the name becomes editable. Changes are saved automatically.
